Managing Partner Martin Cornish Quoted in P&I Online on Hedge Funds’ Offshore Havens

Martin Cornish, the firm’s Managing Partner, was quoted in an article in P&I Online on international regulations that would potentially end the loose regulations and low taxes that benefit hedge funds in offshore locations. Although there are no official proposals yet, Mr. Cornish says, “My reading of the tea leaves is that whatever regulations [the International Organization of Securities Commissions] comes up with [for onshore funds] … the same rules will be implemented offshore.” He adds, “The whole idea here is that, globally, regulators will be able to add up what you’re doing.” (“Hedge funds’ offshore havens at risk, law partner says,” 21 April 2009)
