Edward Black has a wide range of experience in the funds and financial services areas. The focus of his work is regulated investment business including funds, investment managers and advisers and other non-retail investment business. This has led to extensive involvement in commercial and transactional work as well as regulatory issues and he has particular experience of employment law matters.
Edward is admitted in England. He has practiced in both jurisdictions and has spent 12 of the last 17 years in the London offices of US law firms. His specialist experience includes alternative investment and futures funds, on- and off-exchange derivatives and securities, financial services, financial markets and capital markets and their regulation. Edward represents funds, managers, advisers, brokers and investment banks as well as corporate and institutional investors. Prior to 1989 he worked as a litigator with a particular focus on trade marks and patents.
Edward’s expertise in derivatives and futures has been recognized by the Chambers and the Legal 500 Directories on numerous occasions.
Before joining Katten Muchin Rosenman Cornish LLP, Mr. Black was a partner in the London-based firms Denton Wilde Sapte and Field Fisher Waterhouse and counsel in the London office of Mayer Brown and Platt.
Edward received his BA in Jurisprudence from Oriel College, Oxford University in 1977 and his MA in 1982. He became a Solicitor in England & Wales in 1980.
